Northwoods Bird Dogs is committed to producing healthy litters out of the best bloodlines of
English setters and pointers in the country. Their puppies develop into superior hunting dogs or
competitive field trial performers, and above all, wonderful companions.

A limited number of litters are planned by Northwoods Bird Dogs each year. Some puppies will be available for sale and others will be kept to evaluate for the breeding program.

Ms Pearl Delight x CH Centerpiece (sold out) We are very excited about our pointer litter! CH Centerpiece is a handsome, 55-pound liver-and-white pointer male. He has won six championship and two runner-up titles – all on wild birds including sharptail grouse and prairie chicken. His focus on finding birds and lofty style on point is memorable. Centerpiece has an outstanding pedigree full of dogs that have proven themselves on several species of wild birds including ruffed grouse and woodcock. Pearl is a 45-pound liver-and-white female with a great attitude and personality. We hunted Pearl on Texas bobwhites when she was just a puppy. It was common to find her pointing with a covey of quail right in front of her nose. This bird-finding ability and natural staunchness at a young age is most desirable in a bird dog. The CH Rockacre Blackhawk line has proven to cross very successfully with Elhew bloodlines. Pearl is due to whelp on May 25. Houston's Belle's Choice x Northwoods Blue Ox (sold out) Choice is an athletic, 42-lb., tri-color setter female with an even mask. She has an extensive list of field trial wins, but more importantly, is an excellent grouse hunting dog. She has beautiful style in motion—smooth and strong. Choice points with loftiness and is a natural backer. She is hunted hard on grouse by her owner and was also used on our guide string. She is a sweetheart around the kennel and gets along extremely well with all her kennel mates. Ox is an outstanding young dog with proven ability to handle ruffed grouse. Blue Ghost x Blue Riptide (sold out) Blue Ghost is a white-and-orange setter female that weighs about 35 pounds. She has a nice fluid gait and is naturally staunch. Ghost is strikingly marked with an all white body and dark eyes and nose. She was a litter pick we raised and developed here at the kennel. She has pointed liberated quail, wild Texas bobwhites, ruffed grouse, woodcock and pheasants. She naturally backs and is very biddable in the field. She is a sweet-natured dog with a gentle disposition. She is quiet around the kennel and an excellent house dog. Riptide is an outstanding son of Blue Chief x Blue Blossom. He is a striking even masked tri-color with an excellent disposition. Like his sire, Riptide naturally points, backs and retrieves. He has had countless wild pheasants shot over his points. CH Houston's Belle x Northwoods Blue Ox (sold out) Belle is a multiple grouse champion, dependable grouse guide dog and producer of exceptional progeny. Breeding Program
Only sires and dams that meet Jerry and Betsy’s exceptionally high standards are considered. All dogs are carefully evaluated for their contributions to the Northwoods Bird Dogs’ breeding program.

Dogs selected have outstanding genetic backgrounds and proven ability on ruffed grouse. In addition, they exhibit ease of training, correct conformation and terrific dispositions.

Northwoods Bird Dogs believes high quality females are keys to their breeding program. The dams are trained extensively on wild birds, used in guiding operations or competed in field trials. Northwoods Bird Dogs does not have brood bitches that are used only for breeding.

Litter information
Puppies receive excellent care and daily individual attention at Northwoods Bird Dogs. All have had dew claws removed, have been wormed and have been given initial immunizations. Please see The Kennel page for further information.

Litters are registered with the Field Dog Stud Book of the American Field.

Guarantee
Puppies are guaranteed to pass their OFA hip exams (score fair, good or excellent) at 24 months. They are also guaranteed against any congenital eye or hearing defects to the age of 24 months.

Costs and Deposit
To reserve a puppy, a deposit of $250 is required along with your choice of litter and sex. If the dam fails to have puppies or sex preference is not available, you may either reserve a puppy from another litter or have your deposit refunded.

Owners who pick up their puppies at Northwoods Bird Dogs are required to pay Minnesota state sales tax. If owners are unable to pick up their puppies at the kennel, additional costs associated with airline shipping, acquisition of a health certificate and shipping crates are incurred.
